Mon. May 13           Athens

Enjoy a full day of touring Athens with your English-speaking guide. Tour the Acropolis, the ancient Agoura, the Plaka, the Monastiraki area for shopping, The National Museum and many other ancient sights of Athens. Hotel Athens Marriott   (B, L)

Tues. May 14         Athens – Corinth – Argos – Epi Davros– Nafplio 

Today on the way to Nafplio we make a photo stop at the Corinth Canal which connects the Ionian Sea to the sea of Crete followed by a guided visit of the archaeological sites of Mycenae in Argos and Epi Davros before checking in to our hotel in Nafplio – one of the most beautiful towns in Greece. Located on the Peloponnese peninsula; this beautiful old city has a wealth of narrow alleyways and streets, steep stairs, bars and cafés and a lovely seafront promenade. Hotel Amalia Nafolion  (B, L, D)

Wed. May 15         Nafplio – Olympia 

A drive via Megalopolis and Tripolis will bring us to Olympia.
Olympia, Greece was the site of the ancient Olympic Games, which were celebrated every four years by the Greeks. The most celebrated temple was the Temple of Zeus, dedicated to the father of the gods. The Archaeological Museum of Olympia is one of the most important museums in Greece. It contains articles from the sanctuary of Zeus and also where the Olympic Games were born.  Hotel Europa  (B, L, D)

Thurs. May 16       Olympia – Delphi

Delphi on the slopes of Mount Parnassus high above the Gulf of Corinth, is one of the most famous historic sites in Greece. Known throughout the ancient Greek world and beyond as the sanctuary of Apollo and the shrine of his oracle, Pythia. Fri. May 17            Delphi – Arachova – Distomo – Kalambaka

A beautiful ride takes us to Kalambaka by way of Arachova, a traditional mountain village and Distomo with its walled monastery.   Hotel Amalia Kalambaka   (B, L, D)

Sat. May18            Kalambaka – Meteora – Kalambaka – Santorini

Today, we’re visiting the amazing clifftop monasteries of Meteora in central Greece. Monks and hermits have been finding refuge in these unique rock formations for more than a thousand years. Six Eastern Orthodox monasteries—some dating back to the 14th century—remain in place, still home to a small number of monks and nuns – Unbelievable! In the afternoon we take a flight to the enchanting island of Santorini.  Hotel El Greco   (B, L)

Sun. May 19           Santorini

A full day of touring this delightful island includes a cable car ride to the port to take a boat to visit the caldera of Nea Kameni. Visible above water is the circular Santorini island group, consisting of Santorini (Thera), the main island, Therasia and Aspronisi at the periphery and the Kameni islands at the center.  Hotel El Greco   (B, D)

Mon. May 20            Santorini – Heraklion, Crete 

In the morning we board a Hydrofoil heading to the largest of the Greek islands, Crete. We stay in Heraklion— the largest city and capital of the island, with the archaeological highlight, Knossos.  Hotel Galaxy   (B, L)

Tues. May 21           Heraklion, Crete

Our local guide takes us on a tour of Heraklion on the way to one of the oldest civilizations in Europe, Knossos (Minoan city) – 7,000 BC. After visiting Knossos, we visit Heraklion’s Archeological Museum.

Wed. May 22           Heraklion –Athens                                    

Today we take a flight to Athens and having afternoon at your leisure for last minute shopping.  Hotel Athens Marriott     (B, L)

Thurs. May 23           Athens – Cruise Hydra, Aegina & Poros – Athens

We board a ship for a 3-island cruise. Hydra – The small narrow stone paved streets await you to explore on foot or by the island’s traditional “vehicle” the donkey. Poros – although it is the smallest of the three islands, its attraction is the narrow strait offering an enchanting view of the town of Poros. Aegina – is the largest of the islands. Visit the archeological site, the Temple of Afea and the Church of Saint Nektarios, whose relics are on display.  Hotel Athens Marriott   (B, L, D)

Friday May 24            Athens – LAX

Transfer to the Airport and return home with wonderful memories of ancient civilizations, good food, astounding locations and fine wines.   (B)
