You are met by your English-speaking guide and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to do a little sightseeing on your own. Dinner will be at the hotel.

Mon. Sept. 16 Madrid – Toledo – Madrid
Your English-speaking guide takes you on a half day of exploring this fascinating city. Included is the premier collection at the Prado Museum. Lunch is at a local restaurant in the world heritage city of Toledo. Today you start wine tasting by visiting the 18th century winery – Finca Loranque. Return to the hotel in the evening.

Tues. Sept. 17 Madrid – Aranda de Duero – Gumiel de Izan – San Sebastian
93 miles from Madrid, Aranda de Duero is the capital of the Ribera del Duero wine region. The patron saint of the town is the Virgen de las Viñas (Our Lady of the Vines), the local legend says that she was found in a vineyard, hence the name. The Fiesta to honor la Virgen takes place on the first Sunday after 8 September and lasts until the following Sunday.
After your visit in Aranda continue to the Bodega Portia in Gumiel de Izan which was designed by the prestigious British architect Sir Norman Foster. The beauty of the architecture and the refined taste of the wine is what Spain is all about. Continue to San Sebastian for dinner and good night’s rest. Holtel Tryp Orly (B, D)
Wed. Sept. 18 San Sebastian – Bilbao – San Sebastian
There is a half day tour of Bilbao with your English- speaking guide and included is entrance to the world-famous Guggenheim Museum designed by architect Frank Geary. Rest of the day at your leisure in San Sebastian.

Thur. Sept. 19 San Sebastian – Briones – Haro
It’s a 1½ hour drive to the Vivanca Museum of Wine Culture in Briones. The location of the museum is beautiful, with gorgeous views of Briones and nearby vineyards. You’ll find an outdoor display of various grape variety plantings. Enjoy a tasting of local wines. Dinner is at a local restaurant in Haro.

Continue to Basque country. El Ciego which lies in the world-famous Rioja wine-production region, is home to the architecturally cutting-edge Hotel Marqués de Riscal, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry.
Lunch and a tasting will be in the Hotel Marqués de Riscal.

Sat. Sept. 21 Haro – Logroño – Haro
The Fiesta of St. Mathew, the Wine and Harvest Festival is celebrated during the week of September 21 with activities all week long. Logroño is an important city on Camino de Santiago. There is a half-day city tour and a wine tasting at Bodega Ysios and the rest of the day is free to enjoy the festival of St. Mathew. Our hotel is in Haro.

Sun. Sept. 22 Haro – Zaragoza – Barcelona
A 2½ hour drive to Zaragoza, famous for its folklore, local gastronomy, and landmarks such as the Basílica del Pilar, La Seo Cathedral and the Moorish Aljafería Palace which forms part of the Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We continue to Barcelona in the evening.
